             Pinch Dog Training Collars

For use with big, strong or hyper dogs

Pinch dog training collars (sometimes called "prong collars") have saved many dogs lives and only should be used, if at all, for a short time just while training. They are now very popular with women, kids, seniors and people with injuries or disabilities.  It only takes about 20%, or less, energy to get the same or more response from a dog wearing one versus a flat buckle collar.

Many small people with dogs bigger and stronger than them have gotten their dog trained and did not have to euthanize it because the owner kept an open mind and tried a pinch collar.

Dogs nip each other at the neck to correct each other, not jerk or choke. Often dog owners have their dog on a belt buckle flat collar and jerk and choke their dog a lot. Maybe it would be better to use a pinch collar and tug two times instead of ten and not be so violent with the dog.

Pinch collars are made of interlocking links, each having slightly rounded ends to minimize the chance of injury. Unlike a choke chain, pinch collars put an even pressure around the neck by pinching the dog's skin together. No pressure is put directly on the dog's trachea with the pinch collar.

If you are using a pinch collar, remember it does not go over your dogs head, you must unhook it at a link in the collar then go around your dogs neck and hook the collar back together. You can add or subtract links from a pinch collar to change sizes. A pinch collar should fit semi snug on your dog so you can get your fingers under the prongs on the collar to work properly.  If a pinch collar is fitted too loose, it will not give an effective correction.

The pinch collar was developed by a veterinarian as a safe and humane alternative to choke chains.
